Alleviate Neck Pain After Sleeping

We all have woken up and felt like we have “slept wrong.”

What does it feel like?

If it feels achy and dull then your morning shower can help alleviate the tension. Allow the warm water to run on the affected area for 10-15 minutes if it is simply a muscle spasm then this will help relax the muscle. Although typically when people wake up with neck and shoulder pain it is due to an alignment problem. In chiropractic it is what is called a subluxation.

What is subluxation?

This pain typically can radiate under the shoulder blade and feel very uncomfortable, also sometimes the pain may radiate down the arm and make peoples fingers “fall asleep”.

Solution to neck pain after sleeping:

The best thing to do when you wake up with a “kink” in your neck is to pay a visit to your chiropractor. A chiropractic adjustment can often make it feel a lot better very quickly. Once the alignment is adjusted the muscle spasms are allowed to relax and the problem can begin to heal. We may also use manual therapy to help relax the affected muscles after the adjustment is given. The best way to help a “kink” in a person's neck is to visit to a good chiropractor. It is often the difference between a good day and a bad day.
